Description

  • PORTABLE KINEMATIC VISCOMETERS
Solvent-free, simple to use, fast and accurate resultsFluidScan® Q1000

The FluidScan® Q1000 provides direct quantitative measurement of a lubricant’s condition and plays an important role in Machine Condition Monitoring (MCM) for proactive and predictive maintenance in Reliability Management programs. It determines when oil needs to be serviced due to degradation of the oil chemistry or contamination by other fluids such as water or the wrong oil. It is compliant with ASTM D7889 “Standard Test Method for Field Determination of In-Service Fluid Properties Using IR Spectroscopy”.

This portable IR spectrometer uses advanced data processing and a built-in oil application library to deliver immediate, actionable quantitative results for water, TAN and TBN.

Applications include mineral and synthetic oils used in machinery components:
    • Gear boxes
    • Compressors
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Turbines
    • Transmissions
    • Diesel engines

SpectroFluidscan Q1000 was made possible due to years of experience and extensive research and development based on our customer’s need to have an on-site lubricant analysis capability. FluidScan represents the state-of-the-art in infrared technology and can be used to quickly check the condition of lubricants such as hydraulic fluids, engine oils, turbine oils and gear oils for degradation and the presence of contaminants.

The Spectro Fluidscan Q1000 is a handheld condition based maintenance monitor that protects machinery by determining when a lubricant needs to be changed due to excessive contamination or degradation. Its detection capabilities can determine lubrication contamination, degradation and cross-contamination at the point of use by measuring key oil condition parameters in both synthetic and petroleum based lubricants and fluids. FluidScan can readily determine TAN, TBN, oxidation, nitration, sulfation, additive depletion, incorrect lubricant, water, glycol, soot and glycerine and FAME in Biodiesels.

The Spectro Fluidscan Q1000 is unique because of its advanced design and technology, and its exceptional capabilities above and beyond standard infrared analysis including:
•Ability to measure TAN and TBN with superb correlation compared to the complex and time consuming titration laboratory methods.
•Multivariate calibrations are applied so that quantitative readings can be obtained even with complex contaminated samples. Our research database of commonly used lubricants and chemometric techniques to automatically subtract the presence of interferants. The result is better accuracy and quantitative analytical data.
•Spectra matching software is used to create the best possible correlation of the unknown sample with different families of lubricants already in the FluidScan memory. Support from our applications group is available to create spectra for if no perfect match is found.
•The patented flip-top cell design allows for the easiest, most reliable and fastest results. The cell design eliminates the common problem of fringing effects found in conventional cells.
•The patented flip-top cell is even capable of analyzing greases, eliminating the need of ATR cells. The design offers an improved alternative to ATR with better limits of detection, lower noise and improved repeatability.
•The FluidScan can determine glycerin, TAN, FAME and water for biodiesel fuels.
•The included FluidScan Monitoring Manager database software can be used to synchronise the FluidScan with a personal computer to archive, trend and report results.•Default alarm limits for analytical results are included to provide warnings of impending problems. They can be customized and modified to represent local equipment usage and trends.

    SpectroVisc Q300O
    PORTABLE KINEMATIC VISCOMETERSFluidScan® Q3000

    Description
The SpectroVisc Q3000 series viscometers are the world’s first truly portable, solvent-free, temperature-controlled kinematic viscometers, providing high-accuracy measurements for easy detection of viscosity variations caused by contamination, mix-up and oil degradation. The devices were designed to determine kinematic viscosity in the field for applications where immediate results are essential for determining the health of critical equipment.

SpectroVisc Q3000 viscometers use a patented split cell design that enables measurement of kinematic viscosity using only a few drops (60µL) of oil. The SpectroVisc Q3000 family includes two models:
    •SpectroVisc Q3000 portable viscometer, 10-350 cSt @ 40° C
    •SpectroVisc Q3050 portable viscometer, 1-700 cSt @ 40° C

    Analytical Test
•Viscosity in new or used oils

    Benefits and Features
    •Direct kinematic viscosity measurement
A measure of a liquid’s flow under the influence of gravity is provided at a constant temperature, so viscosity can be compared and trended with prior readings. Requires no density check, temperature measurement, instrument pre-configuration or calculation.

    •Split-cell capillary channel
Using a very small sample size; the sampling chamber controls temperature while infrared sensors measure flow and trajectory, delivering immediate results.

Self-contained with high-resolution touch screen, battery and microprocessor
Enables easy operation, in sunlight or low light, drawing minimal power for a 6-hour battery life. Requires no PC.

    Small sample size
Small sample size of 60µl (about 4 drops) is easy to obtain without impacting lubricant level. Reduces waste.

    •Temperature controlled: 40°C ± 0.1°C
Each sample is held to a constant temperature for consistently accurate readings without additional pre-test measurements.

•Works with transparent and opaque oils
Provides accurate results for even the dirtiest samples.

    No cleaning solvent necessary
Eliminates worry about solvent disposal in remote locations. Fewer items to carry.

Weighs less than 1.8 kg (4 lbs.)
Designed for remote locations, the SpectroVisc Q3000 series includes a hinged cover that protects the sample chamber and touch screen while being carried by hand, in a toolbox or in a knapsack.

    Battery operated
Stays charged for more than 6 hours. Built-in universal charger for use worldwide; region-specific power cable included.

    MiniLab53
    NEXT GENERATION ON-SITE OIL ANALYSIS
    SYSTEM FOR INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY

Oil analysis provides early indications of equipment wear mechanisms and identifies the root causes of corrosion.  On-site oil analysis eliminates the wait associated with sending samples off-site and enables immediate decision making.

The MiniLab 53 delivers comprehensive on-site oil analysis, providing immediate actionable results, saving time and reducing costs. The MiniLab 53 answers the questions:

    • Is it the right oil?
    • Is the oil clean?
    • Is it dry?
    • Is it fit for use?
    • And most importantly – Is the machine in good condition?

The MiniLab 53 seamlessly integrates with the Machinery Health Manager Oilview software module. Samples, Batches, Routes or Sample Lists are created in Oilview and downloaded to the MiniLab 53. Once measurements are made, the data is automatically transferred to the user database. Highlights of this system include:

    • Easy to interpret results
    • Generates sample and trend reports automatically
    • Color coded alarm limits prompt maintenance actions
